Hello everyone! I am tired and exhausted, but feel on a path back to myself that I haven't felt in a long time. Feels good. I had a great weekend that I feel brought me back to the core of me, and I'm so grateful for it. However, there was of course laughs, annoyances and adventure around every corner.

And with that, The Heather Chronicles.

FRIDAY
I don't really want to talk about Friday. Friday was very sad and very personal for me. I will say that despite more potential life-changing possibilities, I felt like I got to the root of a lot of the fears, questions and hope. After a lot of talking with two of my best friends, and lots of crying, I felt a peace I hadn't felt for a long time. That's all I'll say about Friday.

SATURDAY
My friend Rachael turned 30 on Thursday, and her celebration was held on Saturday night. It was like a reunion! I hadn't seen many of the people in years. One friend had just moved back from L.A., one friend brought out his wife and visited from Spokane, and one was visiting from San Francisco. Some had gotten married since I last saw them, some had babies, and others...uh really grew up.

The night was so much fun. It entailed an uncomfortable meeting of clowns, a candle that made it's way into strange crevices, lots of laughs and a great conversation with the last guy I dated (this is like the month of closure with exes). AND we found out that there was a gay burlesque show happening in the theater there. Tim and Sean were in there, and snuck Amy & I in just in time to see a woman dressed as a doll, try to figure out where to put her wind up key, in which Sean starts yelling, "YOU KNOW WHERE TO STICK IT!" which was followed up with dirty looks from an angry lesbian. Next came Wonder Woman who did not know how to use her lasso properly and lost her top in the process. Wonder Woman in tassles? Yes, I'm afraid so. That or she had an invisible top to match her invisible jet.

It was so much fun, and just proved that we all get better with age. Screw the puppies! Well, not literally. That's what I'm trying to avoid.

SUNDAY
Sunday morning, we struggled to wake from our 3 AM night (I hate Daylight Savings) and head to the MS Walk. Me, Amy, Rachael, Nigel, Michelle, Logan, Brian and Chad all made up the team and went and registered under what I thought I had set up our team name. I told every to register under Pacific Islanders, I explained to everyone that it was where Wonder Woman was from (my friend's hero), however we found out later it was the Paradise Islanders. I'd fucked up our damned team name to my team.

We are in a massive crowd walking along the Burke Gillman, when we hear it. EEEE-EEEEEE-EEEEEEEEE-EEEEEE. Everyone is cringing at the high pitched, near dog whistle that is consuming the space around us? We are looking around to see what could possibly be the culprit, when it's identified... the evil red wagon. Some family decided to put their two kids in a wagon for the walk. A great idea? Yes, however they should have lubed the damn thing prior! Michelle said that her stroller had been like that, but she had Joe WD40 it before leaving. It was a horrible sound. We were lgritting our teeth and then my mouth started up. "Somebody go spit on that damned wheel!" "Michelle, shove some of Logan's banana in there!" And all the while EEEEEE-EEEEEE-EEEEEEEE-EE. We started making fun of Dumb and Dumber going, "You want to hear the most annoying sound in the world? EEEEE-EEEE-EEEEEEEE." Amy even suggested a squeaky sing-a-long, in which I sang "My name is Heather Duffin" in my most high-pitched, off-key voice. Nigel finally voted that we all pull off to the side and let the wagon pass. We waited until the EEEEEEE-EEEEEE-EEEEE turned into eee-eeee-eeeee and then...nothing. Whew!

We approached Gas Works park and had to cross a small street to get to the park. A few cars had to stop, when this bitch starts freaking out, yelling at the MS walkers in her car. It was crazy! Seriously, she was yelling and slamming her hands on the wheel and contorting like some evil, uncharitable witch. I wanted so badly to slam my hands on the hood of her car and yell, "We have MS you cunt!" But that wouldn't have been in the spirit of our purpose would it? I still dream of it though. Sigh. Someday.

After the walk, I showered and then headed to have dinner and game night with friends from Saturday night. It was a room full of some of my oldest friends. Some I'd babysat, all I'd seen grow up for over fifteen years with my brother, and one had been one of my best friends since high school. And here we were all gathered together again, and it felt like home.

In all that is happening in my life right now, I am so aware of the wonderful people in it. I wouldn't trade any one of them for the world. And as the shit continually hits the fan as of late, I know I'm not alone.
